Lightning Field, Walter de Maria

I read a great review of one journalist's experience with De Maria's Lightning Field. Check it out HERE.

I was aware that this piece of art existed before this journal entry and though my perspective was not insightfully in depth, it was certainly one of awe and appreciation. A lightning field. Hard metal poles growing from the ground, for seconds only connected with the sky by the jagged lines of electrical charges. Sounds beautiful to me. It is riveting that De Maria struck out to both capture nature and still appreciate it in its natural form. Blake Gopnik's insight is much more intriguing and intellectual than mine, but it still found itself wandering the structure in complete wonderment.
